Lubec, a small town of 1,300 residents, is located on Maine's rugged coast. It holds the distinction of being the easternmost town in the United States. West Quoddy Head, on which West Quoddy Head Light is located, is the easternmost point in town. This peninsula has been preserved as Quoddy Head State Park, which is open to the public and contains several miles of hiking trails.
Sunset Point RV Park
We spent a night at Sunset Point RV Park, the self-described "easternmost campground in the US." Located on a peninsula in scenic Johnson Bay, it's an ideal place to watch the sunrise over the water. The campground is open from mid-May to mid-October.

Helen's Restaurant
Here at Maine Wonders, we love blueberries, so you can probably imagine that we're big fans of Maine's wild blueberries. The wild blueberries that grow in Maine are called "lowbush" and are very small, but they're extremely flavorful. We stopped and had a slice of blueberry pie at Helen's in Machias, where the pie is made with just fresh fruit and syrup. The natural taste of the berries without any additives is amazing and a warm slice topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream is a special treat that is uniquely Maine.
